① Artwork:
Unicornio
In this painting, the artist cleverly juxtaposes depth and flatness within the shapes and shadows of a birds-eye poolside view. Reflections, textures, lines, and a joyful rainbow unicorn raft, animate the canvas. It is playful in tone, color, and pattern, echoing one of the artist’s meaningful childhood moments in Colombia.
In this series, the artist combines visual references from life and photographs, coalescing repeated experiences into one image.
Esteban Ocampo-Giraldo depicts scenes from memory, merging nostalgia with contemporary life. While his paintings offer us a window into his life, they also capture a specific feeling through dynamic and often dramatic first-person perspectives, allowing viewers to insert themselves into the painting.
