Drinking Petals (Rain in the Dust)
This collage-based work explores the tension between painting and sculpture. The playful and intimate composition is both tactile, with the seductive authenticity of painterly gestures, and coolly distanced. This work evokes root structures to examine our understanding of the ordering principles of nature. In contrast, the blue light of the background evokes the glow of digital screens.
Touborg combines classical technique with digital tools to explore ideas relating to figuration and abstraction, as well as originality and reproduction. The artist's work realizes new possibilities for artistic subjectivity in the age of algorithmic intelligence. Touborg foregrounds the importance of craft methodology while simultaneously embracing the potential of industrial fabrication. The artist’s works examines potential spaces for emotional expression within the sphere of technological development.

Kristian Touborg’s paintings explore new artistic possibilities in the age of algorithmic intelligence by combining classical technique with digital tools. Kristian Touborg was born in 1987. The artist received an MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2016.
