This painting depicts a surreal geometric environment, made from skewed spatial perspectives and shapes collapsed into two-dimensional planes of color. The artist takes imagery from the physical world and reduces it to rudimentary forms, creating fragmented universes comprised of perspectival fallacies. These environments are tied together by the composition's use of harmonious color.
Sesay's work examines our collective relationship to space, memory and community, as well as the perceived truths within these structures. The artist's compositions invite viewers to navigate created worlds as they question their dimensionality—challenging our acceptance of the rigid pragmatism found in architecture, design and our built environment.
