This painting features two lilacs that vary subtly in tone and transparency, weaving in and out of each other in a dense field. The brushstrokes are both freeform and premeditated, and the composition gains vibrancy from a flat layer of crimson red underneath. Prekop's deft style can appear improvisational at first, but a closer look reveals intentional underlying structures.
