Matt Cotten
Matt Cotten is a
multi-media artist working in Arizona
for over 15 years. Cotten received his BFA from Northern
Arizona University
and his MFA from University
of Arizona. Since 1994 Cotten
has been teaching drawing, painting, and design at the University of Arizona.
Cotten is very
active in the Tucson
warehouse arts district as co-director of Tucson Puppet Works. Each year,
this group is supported by national and local foundations to facilitate the
workshops leading up to the annual All Souls Procession. This event is a public
ritual involving over six thousand people celebrating the living and honoring
the dead. The event is laden with powerful images and continues to be an
inspiration to the content of his paintings.
