Matt Cotten

Matt Cotten is a multi-media artist working in Arizona for over 15 years. Cotten received his BFA from Northern Arizona University and his MFA from University of Arizona. Since 1994 Cotten has been teaching drawing, painting, and design at the University of Arizona.

Cotten is very active in the Tucson warehouse arts district as co-director of Tucson Puppet Works. Each year, this group is supported by national and local foundations to facilitate the workshops leading up to the annual All Souls Procession. This event is a public ritual involving over six thousand people celebrating the living and honoring the dead. The event is laden with powerful images and continues to be an inspiration to the content of his paintings.
