Ramsey Alderson

Ramsey Alderson’s painting practice takes inspiration from socially aware painters of the 19th and early-20th centuries, who provide a continuously relevant lens through which to view ourselves and each other. By using found photos of private situations as his source material, Alderson's subjects are at once personal and detached. He selects these images for their immediacy, vibrance, and applicability to his personal concerns: intimacy, excess, rest, and a visibly fraught relationship between viewer and subject.
