Logan T. Sibrel’s latest body of work continues his overarching theme of intimacy experienced from a queer point of view. By editing, reconstructing, and repeating his photographic references, Sibrel creates a visual diary that reflects a full range of emotional responses to people, places, and objects. This process has served as an impetus for creating art while sometimes making his personal life easier to navigate.

③ Artist:

Logan T. Sibrel

Logan T. Sibrel’s work explores his overarching theme of intimacy experienced from a queer point of view. He culls the subjects of these paintings from an archive of personal photographs that capture the artist’s significant moments. By editing, reconstructing, and repeating these references, Sibrel creates a visual diary that reflects a full range of emotional responses to people, places, and objects. The artist feels compelled to assert himself through various visual iterations until he reaches a sense of clarity—then, he moves forward. This process has served as an impetus for creating art while sometimes making his personal life easier to navigate.

Logan T. Sibrel was born in 1986 in Jasper, IN, and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. He received his BFA at Indiana University in 2009 and his MFA at Parsons School of Design in 2011.
