Through his masterful use of impasto and improvisation, Alex Lemke riffs off of art history’s rich landscape and still-life traditions to create his psychedelic paintings. While working, Lemke’s mind takes left turns as he gets seduced by visual nonsequiturs. Heavily influenced by the physicality of Post-Impressionism, Lemke’s sculptural painting materials ultimately define his idiosyncratic compositions while offering his scenes a fantastical and otherworldly flourish.
