Genevieve Cohn

Genevieve Cohn’s paintings draw from a past, present and future that is both historical and imaginative to depict communities of women. The artist’s compositions use imagery and ideologies drawn from the Women’s Land Army of World War I and II, as well as female separatist communities, fairy tales and literary fiction. Cohn’s work acknowledges a world—neither past nor future, but somehow both—where female power is derived from collaboration, self-endowed agency and connection with the natural world.
