Justin Robinson
Through color, shape, and texture, Justin Robinson uses an abstract visual vocabulary to hint at nostalgic memories from his childhood. The artist has formed an intuitive style based on changes in his environment, studio interior, and mental or emotional states. After beginning with a drawn armature of oil stick or acrylic paint, he employs a range of acrylic and oil marks that evolve from piece to piece and series to series. Profoundly influenced by his time as a studio assistant for the internationally acclaimed painter Eddie Martinez, Robinson continually experiments with layering techniques and combinations of colors.
