① Artwork:
Untitled (Delta, Avianca, Air France and Continental)
This work was created using airplane blankets collected from a variety of sources—including a recent trip by the artist's friend and from strangers on eBay. Teoldi cuts up, reassembles, stitches and stretches these blankets over frames, transforming the hidden histories and memories of the recycled materials into a delicate meditation. This composition is part of a series of large stitched works depicting figures engaged in intimate gestures, including cradled heads and extended hugs.
Teoldi's work explores notions of connection, memory, intimacy and queer desire. The artist's practice employs a variety of easily accessible materials—including airline blankets, stones and cement—that allow Teoldi to engage with the different histories of the found objects while also shaping new narratives.
