Alexa Hawksworth's paintings feature fantastical scenes teeming with anticipation and mystique. Characters twist and turn as though viewed through a psychological strobe. Elastic figures perform as Janus-faced avatars in pursuit of self-expression, individuation and aspiration—ever caught up in the ego’s anxious negotiations. Hawksworth's works are at once alluring and playfully off-kilter.
