About the artist:

Aria Almanzar (b. Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) lives and works in New York City. His practice draws on personal memory and Dominican cultural traditions, examining how Caribbean identity is shaped through both patriarchal and matriarchal structures within a colonial legacy. Focusing on everyday objects—such as the ubiquitous sandals worn across Kiskeya- his work elevates the familiar into symbols of continuity and cultural resilience. Working primarily in oil, Almanzar often incorporates sculptural elements in resin, ceramics, and mixed materials to expand the narrative dimension of his paintings.
