This painting depicts a bouquet of flowers given to the artist after an opening, and subsequently painted once they began to fade. Twilley draws on autobiographical details for her figurative compositions. She uses a painterly style, with a particularly adept rendering of light, to depict her memories and the atmosphere of objects, activities and spaces. The artist repeatedly returns to subjects of significance, capturing their essence through intimate renderings.

She repeatedly returns to subjects of significance from her childhood in Oklahoma, seeking to capture their essence in intimate renderings made with an accomplished painterly technique. Her work depicts both psychological states and the atmosphere of objects, activities and spaces.
"Brandi Twilley (b. 1982, Oklahoma City, OK) lives and works in Oklahoma City, OK. She received her MFA from Yale University in 2011. She has recently exhibited at Charles Moffett (New York, NY), Josh Lilley (London, UK), 1969 Gallery (New York, NY), Zero Gallery (Milan, Italy), The Museum of Sex (New York, NY), and Kate Werble Gallery (New York, NY). She has had three solo presentations at Sargent’s Daughters (New York, NY).
