In his ongoing series American Collection Paintings, Brian Rideout examines the evolution of visual culture. Drawing upon a wide variety of references, from 17th century Flemish paintings to contemporary design and auction catalogs, his work explores ideas surrounding taste, the archive, and more broadly, the role that images and artifacts play within individuals' lives and their larger social implications.
