Christina Allan

Christina Allan's vibrant and expressive work explores profound aspects of the human experience through paintings of otherworldly creatures and dreamlike places. From dramatic mythical scenes to introspective psychological portraits, Allan creates a world of fantastical creatures that mimic the complexity of the human experience. These beings vary from sea creatures to the Grim Reaper—a recurring character in her work. Allan's imaginative interpretations of the unknown are born from her interest in our human psychological and philosophical struggles as well as the elaborate mythologies of ancient civilizations. Like ancient mythological Gods and Goddesses, her painted narratives present an escape from our absurd, quotidian existence.

Christina Allan was born in 1995 and currently lives in Toronto, ON, Canada. She received her BFA in painting in 2017 from The Parsons New School for Design in New York City, NY.

Allan has mounted recent solo exhibitions at 4BYSIX in London, UK (2022); Alchemy Gallery in New York City, NY (2022); and Lorin Gallery in Los Angeles, CA (2022). Her work has also been included in group exhibitions such as PLAYGROUND at Breach Miami in Miami, FL (2022); On The Way To Basel at Lorin Gallery in Paris, France (2022); and LOADED at IRL Gallery in New York City, NY (2022).
