About the artist:
Cooper Jacoby makes sculptures and installations that animate the infrastructures of everyday life. Drawing on histories of computation and design, he reshapes ubiquitous interfaces - from intercoms and thermostats to answering machines and street lights - using generative AI, sensors and responsive systems. His work examines the narratives embedded in technologies, revealing the resources, forms of labor and systems of extraction that underpin them.
Cooper Jacoby (b. 1989, Princeton, New Jersey) is an artist based in Paris. He received his BFA from Bard College in 2011. Selected solo exhibitions include Chain-of-thought (N/A, Seoul, 2025), The Living Substrate (Fitzpatrick Gallery, Paris, 2024), Sun is bile (The Intermission, Piraeus, 2022), and Disgorgers (Swiss Institute at LUMA Westbau, Zurich, 2017). His work has been included in the Whitney Biennial 2026 (New York), Counterpublic 2026 (St. Louis), and exhibitions at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Le Consortium, Dijon; MO.CO Montpellier Contemporain; CAPC, Bordeaux; Swiss Institute, New York; KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin; and FRAC Île-de-France, Paris.
