Fifteen at nine thirty

Simultaneously lewd and sweet, this cheeky painting compiles and transforms found images of nudists and exhibitionists through line and subtle color washes. For this work, Gluibizzi draws from both childhood memories of nude beaches and years spent perusing art books—as well as images found through internet searches.

In this composition, Gluibizzi explores our image-saturated digital world—archiving, ordering and puzzling collected figures into open narratives. The figures in the painting are emblematic of the uncertainty that prevades our digitally mediated past, present and future. At the same time, this painting celebrates the beautifully complex search for connections humans undergo as they face the world.
