Daniel Dove’s paintings evoke the effects of architecture, art and popular culture. The artist’s work, sometimes made on paper, features rich details, beautiful brushwork and dynamic color to excite the quiet pleasure of thoughtful observation.

BIO:

Daniel Dove was born in Austin, Texas in 1971. The artist received a BFA at the University of Texas at Austin, where he worked with Peter Saul. Dove also worked with William Bailey, Mel Bochner and Sylvia Plimack Mangold at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

Exhibitions of Dove’s work have taken place at: the Frederick R. Weisman Museum in Malibu, California; the Cleveland Institute of Art in Cleveland, Ohio; The Contemporary Austin in Austin, Texas; and Jack Shainman Gallery in New York City; among others.

Dove is the recipient of a Joan Mitchell Foundation Fellowship. 

Dove’s work has been the focus of reviews and features in publications, such as: Artforum, Art in America, Los Angeles Times, The Village Voice, Harper’s Magazine, LA Weekly and Tema Celeste

Dove’s work is in the permanent collections of: the Frederick R. Weisman Museum in Malibu, California; Progressive Insurance in Cleveland, Ohio; and the Hallmark Art Collection in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Dove lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
