About the artist:
Francisco Tavoni is a Venezuelan multidisciplinary artist whose work engages with spiritual concepts to examine human relationships, identity, and the shifting boundaries of perception. Emerging from a deeply personal inquiry into the nature of the ‘self’, his practice reflects a sustained fascination with consciousness, transformation, and the unseen structures that shape experience. Recognizable for his use of textiles as analogue filters, his imagery evokes the interwoven fabric of life, suggesting how identity is formed through gestures, encounters, and the fluidity of place.
With a multicultural background - born in Venezuela to Italian parents and beginning his career in Byron Bay, Australia - and as part of his homeland’s forced diaspora, his notion of “home” has undergone continual reconstruction. This experience informs his evolving perspectives on borders, thresholds, and psychological frontiers. In many of his works, figures appear veiled and nearly indiscernible, leaving viewers with only the contours of presence: the shimmering, vibrating boundary between the visible and the spiritual. Through refined lighting, dramatic color, and the removal of contextual markers, his practice invites contemplation of aura, atmosphere, and states of being.
