Gwendolyn Zabicki's paintings focus on nearly invisible, quotidian moments—the people and events that make up a large part of being alive. Through her painting practice, Zabicki has learned to notice the hue, saturation, and value of the everyday objects around her. But most importantly, by looking closely, Zabicki has taught herself to care more deeply about ordinary things, and her paintings, in turn, encourage viewers to embrace the pleasures of the mundane.

Gwendolyn Zabicki was Born in 1982 in Chicago, IL, where she lives. She received her MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Chicago, IL (2012) and her BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago, IL (2005).

She has mounted solo exhibitions at Heaven Gallery in Chicago, IL (2020); the Victorian House Gallery at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL (2020); and Roman Susan Gallery in Chicago, IL (2018).

Zabicki has also participated in various group exhibitions, including At Home at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art in Chicago, IL (2022); Vision 20/20 at White Columns in New York City, NY (2021); Unconquerable Women at Martha’s Contemporary in Austin, TX (2021); and Summer Show at Anastasia Tinari Projects in Chicago, IL (2021) among others.
