Jonathan Edelhuber invokes art historical references through his stylizations of the human face in extreme close-up. Part memento mori and part smiley face, his toothy, bright-eyed visages summon the joy and ridiculousness of our complicated personhood. This template has become a signature subject for the artist, and each unique work has its specific gestures, colors, and techniques.

Jonathan Edelhuber was born in 1984 in Hope, AR, and lives in Clarksville, Tennessee. He earned his BFA with an emphasis on Graphic Design from Harding University.

He has mounted solo exhibitions at Over the Influence in Los Angeles, CA (2023 and 2022); ZieherSmith (2022 and 2021); and Ampersand Gallery & Books in Portland, OR (2020).

Edelhuber has also participated in group exhibitions such as SPECTRUM - The Paperwork Show at Better Go South in Berlin, Germany (2022); Spray Painterly 2 at Allouche Gallery in New York City, NY (2022); QUIXOTIC at Ojiri Gallery in London, UK (2020); and 36 Paintings at Harper's in East Hampton, NY (2020).
