Baby Steps

This drawing explores the liminal space between memory and experience as well as abstraction and figuration. The artist embraces ambiguity in her compositions where each form has the autonomy to create its own narrative—yet still maintain its abstract nature.

Hantehzadeh employs a loose and repetitive style of mark-making that draws attention to the process of creation and the marks themselves. She balances the natural movement of her hand with both conscious and subconscious decisions as she explores form, gesture and color.
