Paige Turner-Uribe’s work explores the sublime and the uncanny in ordinary life through lurid color and exquisite technique. Her paintings consist of layers of oil paint built up to create a luminous surface. Her work exists in a reverie of in-between moments revealed in an iridescent haze.

Paige Turner-Uribe paints open-ended and atmospheric scenes that feel simultaneously familiar and mysterious. Her work explores the sublime and the uncanny in ordinary life, as well as the way light and color convey feelings and moods. Her paintings consist of layers of oil paint, gradually built up, wiped away, and reapplied until the image gets resolved through a luminous surface. Her work exists in a reverie of in-between moments revealed in an iridescent haze.

Paige Turner-Uribe was born in Quantico, VA, and currently lives in Los Angeles, CA. She earned her BFA in painting and printmaking from San Diego State University, San Diego, CA, and her MFA in painting and drawing from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL.

The artist’s work has been included in group exhibitions at Mindy Solomon Gallery (2022), Smoke the Moon (2022), False Cast (Vignette, 2021), ::JACOB’S:: (2021) and Fortnight Institute (2021), among others.
