Details:

The famous Piers of New York City’s West Side originally served as turn-of-the-century shipping ports but had been long-deserted and decaying by the 1970s. Off of Christopher Street and running both south and north along the Hudson River, several of these abandoned structures became a place where gay men could safely gather out of view of the public.
