The born-and-raised New Yorker but LA-based art advisor Olivia Davis talks about her favorite works from the January selection of limited-edition prints on Platform.

In their own words

For as long as I can remember, I've had a deep appreciation for Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting. Born and raised in New York City, I was afforded a certain type of exposure to the art world at a young age. I went on to study Art History at Boston University and then obtained my MA in Art Business at Sotheby's Institute, before moving to Los Angeles. My company (Art of Choice) is an Art Advisory firm that specializes in building valuable collections of post-war and contemporary art. Over the years, on behalf of clients, I have acquired major works by Alex Katz, Stanley Whitney, Richard Prince, Georg Baselitz, Jadé Fadojutimi, Shara Hughes, Amoako Boafo, Salman Toor, and many others.

Ed Ruscha, Sign in a Mudstorm, 2021
Direct gravure printed in black and brown. 28.5 × 24.5 inches. Edition of 40. $11,500

I have been drawn to Ed Rucha's work for as long as I can remember. Known for his wordplay and sense of humor, Ruscha's work illustrates his ability to take something ordinary and make it extraordinary. Browse the work.

Lisa Yuskavage, Hippies in Tit Heaven, 2015
Lithograph in 12 colors on Coventry Rag. 38.6 × 34.8 inches. Edition of 45. $8000

Lisa Yuskavage is one of my favorite figurative painters. Her bold, vibrant and cheeky way of portraying the subjects and landscapes in her work is one I've always admired as truly original and compelling. Browse the work.

Stanley Whitney, Yellow Changing, 2011
Aquatint on Hahnemühle bright white paper. 15.0 × 16.0 inches. Edition of 20. $6000.

Stanley Whitney is one of the most prolific Color Field painters making work today. His use of color is so explosive and encapsulating. I could just stand in front of one of his paintings for hours. Browse the work.

Richard Prince, New Figures, 2015
16-color silkscreen with collage on Coventry Rag and Lanaquarelle. 48.0 × 35.0 inches. Edition of 26. $12,000

When I think of Richard Prince, three words come to mind: wild, fun, iconic. I admire his ability to create a multitude of series that are all so powerful and unique. His practices have always been so fascinating to me. Browse the work.
