Opened in February 2019, the gallery synthesizes the directors’ backgrounds in performing arts (Carvalho) and architecture (Park), informing a distinct point of view, shaping the gallery’s cross-disciplinary program, and privileging a physicality in the art-viewing experience. Carvalho Park features international emerging artists who reconsider distinctions between increasingly fluid categorization of the visual art, performing art, and design realms via process-driven work and dedication to materials. Exhibitions work to activate the viewer’s environment and expand the space for cross-disciplinary engagement and discourse.
