Cielo Felix-Hernandez

An interdisciplinary artist working primarily in oil, Cielo Felix-Hernandez’s autobiographical paintings reference her upbringing between the island of Puerto Rico and the mainland of the United States. The artist’s compositions draw on both memory and cultural legacy to reflect her lived experience as a transfemme Boricua. Felix-Herndandez’s detailed, referential compositions feature an exuberant palette that draws viewers into a space of care, resilience and joy—while imagining an expansive transfemme future that exists beyond the confining narratives of coloniality and marginalization.
