Braden Hollis’ paintings develop through an intuitive process of layering and removal similar to choreography. Her works often begin with pure color while incorporating and destabilizing images from direct observation, art historical sources, or popular culture.

Braden Hollis was born in 1998 in Los Angeles, CA, and lives in Brooklyn, NY. She received her BFA from The Cooper Union in New York, NY (2020).

She has mounted solo exhibitions at 56 Henry in New York, NY (2023) and UTA Artist Space in Atlanta, GA (2022).

Hollis has been included in group exhibitions at Sean Kelly Gallery in Los Angeles, CA; Castle Gallery in Los Angeles, CA; Tilton Gallery in New York, NY; and the Japanese American Cultural Community Center in Los Angeles, CA, among others.

Hollis was selected for The Macedonia Institute residency program in 2022 and a Sylvia Appelman Painting Award in 2019.
