Details:

The artist uses mark-making and a dynamic palette to mimic domestic life in this pastel drawing. The central ribbon-like form suggests to-do lists and alternates between an opaque central line with hints of writing to a transparent peach color shape melting in gold gestural shapes in the background. The strong silhouettes of curved fringe suggest shadows of curtains or furniture.

To Do List

The artist uses mark-making and a dynamic palette to mimic domestic life in this pastel drawing. The central ribbon-like form suggests to-do lists and alternates between an opaque central line with hints of writing to a transparent peach color shape melting in gold gestural shapes in the background. The strong silhouettes of curved fringe suggest shadows of curtains or furniture.

The artist creates pastel drawings and paintings where studio and domestic life merge into one. Impulsive, direct drawings from her home transform into active, colorful abstractions. These richly pigmented pastels reference and distill the artist's daily world. Submerged bits of fringe, wrought iron, writing, and panhandles become clues of the day's events. Employing a call-and-response technique between herself and the artwork, Case sees homelife comprised of countless domestic routines as an active, creative world.
