These paintings, rendered through layered applications of oil and acrylic, balance seductive color and texture with a subtle sense of unease. Drawing from mythology, theology, and the occult, Boagey uses natural forms as metaphors for human psychology and social dynamics. The work reflects his ongoing exploration of how desire, knowledge, and transformation shape both the natural world and contemporary culture.

About the artist:

Craig Boagey is a London-based artist whose practice centers on painting and drawing. Working with combinations of oil and acrylic, Boagey creates densely rendered compositions that explore sensual, fleshy, and occasionally unsettling imagery. His works frequently draw from natural forms, particularly mushrooms, which function as symbolic devices through which he examines human behavior, desire, and systems of social exchange.

Boagey’s paintings are executed with meticulous precision and layered references to mythology, theology, poetry, and the occult. Through these visual and intellectual frameworks, his work considers humanity’s relationship with the natural world, technology, and one another. The resulting images oscillate between attraction and discomfort, inviting viewers to reflect on the psychological and cultural forces that shape human experience.

Craig Boagey (b. 1985, Liverpool, United Kingdom) is a contemporary painter and draftsman based in London. He studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London.
