① Artwork:

Strapped

This painting is full of fractured images that could depict faces, body parts or even architecture—each is a double vision that moves between being transparent and being hidden. What seems like an eye or a nipple could simply be a point of focus. In the artist's paintings, each mark is more substantial than a mere addition to the surface of the work—every stroke is empowered with marble dust or other thickening agents to give additional compositional importance. Baldwin has attached this thick oil composition to a sculpted and torched wooden frame that acts as an appendage to the work itself.

③ Artist:

Ever Baldwin

Ever Baldwin's paintings explore the back-and-forth actions of observing and sensing. The artist's thick oil paintings, often fused to torched wooden frames, flicker between depicting clear and hidden faces, body parts and even architecture. In Baldwin's compositions, each mark becomes something more substantial than a mere addition to the painting—every stroke is empowered with marble dust or other thickening agents for added compositional importance.
