Untitled (Judy Ledgerwood, Panathenaic Prize Amphora, tulips, hex sign)
This still life painting depicts a vase with flowers in a lively interior. This work is part of a series by the artist where formal elements—including pattern, texture and vibrancy of color palette–play an integral role. In each painting, vases full of flowers such as hyacinth, tulips and Japanese boxwood are framed by windows, patterned wallpaper and paintings. These works express beauty while drawing viewers into a meditative reflection on the life force and the passage of time.
