Koppel's work explores the mechanics of image-making and improvisation—searching for a free and dynamic experience for both the viewer and the artist. Koppel's compositions work like free association, consisting of disparate elements from the imagination that quickly come together to create a cohesive work. The artist identifies these principles with ancient traditions—techniques that take a lifetime to hone to perfection.
