About the artist:
Born in 1984 in Minneapolis, Jonathan Todryk has been immersed in creative practice since childhood, first through music and later through visual art. In 2017, he fully committed to painting, developing a distinct voice grounded in restraint, material honesty, and presence.
Working near Dallas, Texas, Todryk creates abstract paintings using raw pigment, water, and oil on canvas and linen. His process is direct and tactile, often using his hands, allowing gesture, touch, and material behavior to guide the work.
His recent body of work embraces quiet mark-making, stillness, and reduction. Through subtle movement, sensitive color, and the physical trace of the hand, Todryk explores the emotional and spiritual registers of silence, attention, and embodied presence..
