Meeting

In this oil painting, two nude figures are laying on the ground bathed in moonlight. One of the figure’s hands is placed gently on the waist of the other. From the two prone bodies rise translucent mirrored forms that meet each other in the air that appear to be their spirits. The purpose and circumstance for this event are unknown—perhaps it is a meditation of some kind or a meeting in the afterlife.

Laura Berger creates sensuous paintings centered around themes of interdependence and self-understanding. This work uses intuitive color palettes and dreamlike minimalistic environments to depict archetypal figures and their interactions. The artist's work articulates experiences and memories that feel just out of reach—perhaps existing on a more spiritual or emotional plane.
