③ Artist:

Logan T. Sibrel

Logan T. Sibrel’s work explores his overarching theme of intimacy experienced from a queer point of view. He culls the subjects of these paintings from an archive of personal photographs that capture the artist’s significant moments. By editing, reconstructing, and repeating these references, Sibrel creates a visual diary that reflects a full range of emotional responses to people, places, and objects. The artist feels compelled to assert himself through various visual iterations until he reaches a sense of clarity—then, he moves forward. This process has served as an impetus for creating art while sometimes making his personal life easier to navigate.

Logan T. Sibrel was born in 1986 in Jasper, IN, and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. He received his BFA at Indiana University in 2009 and his MFA at Parsons School of Design in 2011.

Sibrel has mounted solo exhibitions of his work at Auxier Kline in New York City, NY (2022); Galerie Thomas Fuchs in Stuttgart, Germany (2022); 1969 Gallery in New York City, NY (2020); and Leslie Lohman Project Space in New York City, NY (2019).

He participated in group exhibitions, such as Reflections at Drama Club in Brooklyn, NY (2022); Come Out & Play at Beers London in London, UK (2022); Picnic at Auxier Kline in New York City, NY (2022); and Under My Skin at Campeche in Mexico City, Mexico (2022).

He was also the recipient of residencies and awards, including the Palazzo Monti Artist Residency in Brescia, Italy (2018) and the Wildfjords Artist Residency, Ísafjörður, Iceland (2014).
