Rain on Pane
This drawing on paper is a magnification of raindrops on a windowpane. The large-scale rendering of minute objects creates a sense of immersion within the pencil line, something enhanced by the microscopic detail. Rain on Pane appears in salt, the monograph of Slagboom's work published in 2017.

Over the last four decades, Pieter Slagboom has created an iconographic world of large-scale colored pencil drawings. His works are ethereal and poetic, an analysis of contemporary society that examines how culture and religion circumscribe the body. They also depict a private inner world full of delicately rendered forms.
