“No Name” is an ongoing series using natural mineral pigments on raw canvas. Inspired by both Chinese and Japanese traditional painting, as well as Western watercolor techniques, each composition reflects a quiet observation of natural patterns and sacred geometry. The series contemplates the concept of “一花一世界” — “an ocean in one drop” — exploring the continuum between the micro and the macro.

About the artist:

Shu Hua Xiong’s ethereal paintings move between figuration and abstraction. Drawing from Taoist, Buddhist philosophy and her own research into world religions and contemporary spiritual movements, her visual language traces a journey toward oneness—integrating fragments and dualities into a unified whole. Guided by patterns found in nature that echo our own biological structures and social context, the paintings mirror a quiet parallel between the human and the natural world.

Shu Hua Xiong was born in Shanghai, China in 1994. She received both her BFA and MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She has been exhibited internationally including the West Bund Museum in Shanghai, Almost Perfect in Tokyo, IRL gallery, Allouche Gallery and Island Gallery in New York City. Her works have been featured in publications such as Artsy, The New York Times, The New Yorker, It’s Nice That, Google Artist, among others. Shu currently lives and works in New York and Tokyo.
