William Schaeuble finds mundane scenes and turns them into something odd enough to amuse. Schaeuble approaches painting through the lens of a self-documentarian who observes and records his moments—as he sees them—so they can be relived tomorrow.

William Schaeuble

William Schaeuble was raised with one goal: to catch the biggest freshwater pond fish in the Midwest. But as a way to pass the time, he started painting–mostly nudes and dogs with long tails–growing into the artist he is today. Schaeuble approaches painting through the lens of a self-documentarian who observes and records his moments—as he sees them—so they can be relived tomorrow.

William Schaeuble was born in 1999 in Iowa and currently lives in Chicago, IL. He earned his BFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago, IL (2022).

He has mounted a solo exhibition at Povos in Chicago, IL (2022), and has participated in group exhibitions such as Ordinary Instant at Thierry Goldberg Gallery in New York City, NY (2022), and Fables at Povos Chicago in Chicago, IL (2022).

Schaeuble’s work has been featured in publications like ArtMaze Magazine (2020-22), Archive Collective Magazine (2020), and more.
