Through the lens of his own queer and immigrant life, Chinese-American painter Andersen Woof searches for ambiguous narratives in his practice that reflect the complexities of humanity.

Through the lens of his own queer and immigrant life, Chinese-American painter Andersen Woof searches for ambiguous narratives in his work that reflect the complexities of humanity.

Andersen Woof was born in 1989 in China and lives in Baltimore, MD. He earned his MLA from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI (2015); his MUP and Design from Beijing Forestry University in Beijing, China (2013); and his BLA from Anhui Agricultural University in Hefei, China (2010).

He has been in group exhibitions at Semiose Gallery in Paris, France (2023); CPM Gallery in Baltimore, MD (2023); 1969 Gallery in New York City, NY (2022); and Fortnight Institute in New York City, NY (2021) among others.

Andersen received an Artist Recovery Grant from the Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts and was a grant finalist for the Hopper Prize (2021).

His work has been featured in publications such as New American Paintings, ArtMaze Magazine, and Booooooom.
