ABOUT:

Meliksetian | Briggs was founded in 2012 by Anna Meliksetian and Michael Briggs. Featuring an intergenerational program of Los Angeles-based and international artists, the gallery intends to be a site of discovery, experimentation, cultural and educational exchange, while working closely with and supporting artists, helping them achieve their ambitions. The artists in the program investigate various positions, addressing relevant and topical contemporary, philosophical, aesthetic and sociopolitical ideas in their work. These themes include the dialectic between the production and reception of an artwork; aesthetics and exchange value; ideas of self as performer and selfhood as performance; identity and post-colonialism and cultural theory and appropriation. The gallery represents the estate of Bas Jan Ader, Meg Cranston, Alex Heilbron, Mustafa Hulusi, Yifan Jiang, Christiane Lyons, John Miller, Richard Hoeck & John Miller, Aura Rosenberg, , Adam Saks, Cody Trepte and Johannes Wohnseifer. Gallery artists have exhibited frequently in museum and institutional shows, have had their work featured in major international exhibitions such as the Whitney Biennial, the Venice Biennale, the Saõ Paolo Biennial and the Made in L.A. biennial, and are represented in numerous public collections.
